Celebrate America’s Independence at Oxford’s Freedom Festival on July 4. The annual festival is packed full of free activities for a day of celebration at Oxford Lake, 401 McCullars Lane.
The day begins at 9:00 am with a parade down McCullars Lane and into the Oxford Civic Center parking lot. Everyone is invited to participate in the parade. Pam Harris, Program Director for the City of Oxford, invites families and groups to dress up in patriotic colors and join in on the fun.
All parade participants, including fire trucks, antique cars, boy scouts and girl scouts will meet at the baseball fields on McCullars Lane at 8:00 am. Members of the Oxford Arts Council will be on hand to judge the groups of participants.
When the parade marches into the Civic Center parking lot, the opening ceremonies will commence. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded to the most patriotic parade participants.
Free activities continue through the morning, including a petting zoo, carnival games, choo choo train rides around the lake, clowns, a karate demonstration, bounce houses, food vendors, and much more!
At 1:00 pm, Three on a String will kick off a free concert inside the air-conditioned civic center. The Birmingham based group has been performing for 45 years. Three on a String will keep you smiling throughout their family-friendly show. The band is hailed for bringing good, clean fun for all ages.
Capping off the Freedom Festival is a huge fireworks show at 9:00 pm. The show is sure to impress with a 20 – 30 minute show.
